The Equality Of Women And Men - 2399 Words

Historically, married women had very limited rights of their own. When a couple married they where to be seen as one unity of which the husband took all control. The serotype used to be that the wife should be a ‘home maker’ thus keeping the family home and looking after the children, whilst the husband should be the ‘bread winner’ who went to earn a living to keep and provide for his family. As times have changed and social views and morals have developed considerably and marriage has undergone gradual legal change primarily aimed at improving rights for women. Persuasive Essay About Vaccines And Vaccinations - 2223 Words

Hailey Chirhart Paul Reid English Composition 2 June 8, 2015 Persuasive Essay Rough Draft You and your significant other have just found out that you’re pregnant. You will carry the baby for 9 months and you will protect it with your own body, but what happens after birth? What kind of protection should you provide them with? The question is to vaccinate, or to not vaccinate? First off, let’s start with what a vaccine is. A vaccine is a substance that produces antibodies and provides immunity against one or many diseases. A vaccine is made up and prepared with the disease that causes it, its products, or a synthetic substitute. It’s treated to act like an antigen without producing the disease. So to simplify this, patients are injected†¦show more content†¦Having the immunity when your child is exposed to the disease is extremely important. Vaccines have come a long way and many diseases have been eradicated due to people choosing to vaccinate. One of the risks of choosing to not vaccinate your child is that it doesn’t just affect their health; it potentially affects the health of those around them. For example, say your child does contract a disease such as measles and is in daycare or at the hospital being treated for it. In that time your child could potentially spread the disease to other children that are either unprotected because they aren’t old enough to receive the vaccine yet, or have compromised immune systems due to something such as cancer or someone suffering from kidney failure and they are unable to receive any live vaccines, or children who have received the vaccine and still have a low immunity against the disease. Choosing to vaccinate your child will protect people around your child, and that’s the ultimate goal with vaccines is to protect the health of the general public. Along with protecting people around your child, you also want to be protected too because you could contract the disease as well and in turn, miss days at work. Professional Communication Skill for Nurse - MyAssignmenthelp.com

Question: Discuss about theProfessional Communication Skill for Nurse. Answer: Situation Description Last semester, I attended a community development forum at Melbourne city. I was tasked with the responsibility to give a talk about how to develop the community using the unlimited resources to make the maximum social benefits. When giving the talk, the audience was not taking notes, and their facial expression was wanting, this kept worrying me. Surprisingly, when I introduced real-life examples and jokes in the talk, only a few people got excited. I instructed people to know their sitting mates; they never did it with excitement. In my opinion, I believe they failed to do as I instructed them because they considered me a young person or maybe because of lack of education to understand the language I was requested to use (English). Among other factors, this essay explains that situation. Later I discovered what went wrong and I found the following solutions. Some people in the audience were less educated; the people I was addressing may not be educated as such hence the language I was using may be too difficult for them to understand. Also the topic I was discussing may not be to their level thus making them float. Also, the use of shortcuts the people I was addressing may not be familiar with hence makes them fail to understand. (Arnold and Boggs, 2015, p.234) This led to the situation that I found myself in. Misunderstanding; the audience may not have understood the word or phrase I used just because of some reasons such as my accent, pronunciation or the inflection. This may have led to misinterpretation in the meaning of what I meant. Or maybe all the people missed the message due to hearing loss, bad connection or even information-processing deficit. Also, the people who reacted negatively I did not take time to correct them. The people may be mad at me: the individuals I was talking to were emotionally upset with me. So what I said or wrote was unfavorable to them. So it was hard for me to take time to make force arguments so that I may convince them that my point is justified or superiors to theirs. If the people wish to recognize the legitimacy of my position they may probably need to summon first the patience, understanding and also the compassion to listen sympathetically to theirs. Only by doing this they may be willing to listen to me without projecting to my words a negatively distorted meaning born of their already being irritated or angry with me. The people in the audience may be in a state of fatigue; if an individual is in brain fog' or it may be nighttime, and therefore they are already more than to hang it for the day by notwithstanding, I still make efforts to engage them by significantly increase the likelihood that I will misunderstand. This may lead to inadequate acuity at the moment to follow me, and they tried to even articulate this to me (Cook, Klein, and Chen, 2015, p 231) As the good comic will tell me timing is everything. It is imprudent to approach complex or conflictual when the potential is listened out. Main potential barriers to communication; Lack of common communication language barriers: a receiver is supposed to understand and also get the meaning the sender is communicating about. When the sender uses too tricky or wrong words, he or she may send the false impression in the eyes of the customers. If the sender cannot speak in the right manner, stammer while talking or cannot escape the barriers of communication what he intends to communicate in proper and authentically may go to waste. Lack of sufficient knowledge and skills from the audience: if I start discussing something with no experience about it communication barrier may occur because I cannot explain openly about it. The misinformation may lead to losing some the customers who are potential. If the lack of information exists in an organization may lead to a stumbling block in the career development. Also communicating a lot of information may be an enormous setback as many people may not be able to grasp a lot of information. The information may arrive too fast such that interpreting it may be too challenging to some of the people. Use of impolite language: the use of slang or rude language may impede the effort of communication whether the message is written or not (Cook, Klein, and Chen, 2015, p 321).No one may tolerate the abusive or rude language. The sender should use 7C's given by Cultic to enhance effective public relations. These C's include content, clarity, Capability, channels, credibility, continuity, and context. All these should be used clearly for effective communication with the audience. Ways to overcome the barriers Later I discovered ways of taking barriers to communication. These barriers include Having clarity in my thoughts: I should have very clear in ( Rider, and Keefer, 2006, p 625) formation on my objective and on what to convey. I have to arrange my thoughts in an orderly manner to communicate in a methodical way. Communication arranged in a systematic manner and clarity in every view is highly received and appreciated. Understanding the needs of my audience: I must understand the nature, culture, religion, and behavior of the receiver. This is to ensure the respect to the audience thoughts or feelings by stating the point of view. Also, the message should be structured as per the level the audience can understand to avoid misunderstanding. Seeking advice from other people before communicating: if the meeting is the prolific high meeting, one should seek advice from seniors and other colleagues on which kind of talk I should give and into which level (DeVito, 2015, p 23) This helps to get ideas which can build the knowledge and the motivation and can use the same to meet the purpose which is required. This helps to reduce the confusion before the audience. Conclusion In conclusion when communicating with the audience, one should make sure he or she escapes the barriers of communication. This is to ensure that the audience understands you clearly and to avoid confusion and misunderstanding. The sender of the information should practice and use all the right skills of communication. It Is Unusual When A Masterpiece Develops Out Of An Assignmen

It is unusual when a masterpiece develops out of an assignment, but that is, more or less, what happened in the case of Gulliver's Travels. The Martinus Scriblerus Club proposed to satirize the follies and vices of learned, scientific and modern men. Each of the members was given a topic, and Swift's was to satirize the numerous and popular volumes describing voyages to faraway lands. Ten years passed between the Scriblerus project and the publication of Gulliver's Travels, but when Swift finished, he had completed a definitive work in travel literature. Moreover, he had completed what was to become a children's classic (in its abridged form) and a satiric masterpiece. Swift's main character, Gulliver, is a man who only pays attention to surface meanings and events. Gulliver is also, as might be expected, ?gullible.? Gulliver narrates details leaving the reader to ponder the deeper meaning. Gulliver's naive nature permits the reader to perceive the humor and the irony in Gulliver's Travels in the reader's own way, thus, making the novel's fascination seem inexhaustible. As the narrator of the Travels, Gulliver never detects the double meanings of events. Gulliver, a sailor and a surgeon, always notices the details but is not in the habit of contemplating significance. He gives the same deadpan, pedestrian account of the beginning of his voyages that he does when he tells of his foreign adventures. Gulliver believes almost everything he is told because he lacks the imagination to see contradictions. For example, when Gulliver travels to Lilliput, the Emperor entertains Gulliver with some court diversions. The diversions, however, prove to be quite different than one might expect; they are not plays nor masques nor musical performances. ?I was diverted with none so mush as that of the rope-dancers, performed upon a slender white thread...this diversion is only practiced by those persons who are candidates for great employments, and high favor, at court...whoever jumps the highest without falling, succeeds in the office.? (pgs 53-54) This passage describes the Lilliputian court custom by which men seeking political office demonstrate their agility in rope dancing, among other activities. How long and how skillfully a candidate can dance upon a rope determines his tenure in office. Besides the rope dancing there are other diversions. Noblemen compete for official favor by crawling under or leaping over a stick. They are then rewarded with various colored threads. The jumping and crawling games that Gulliver witnesses and describes sound innocent, like games children might play. To Gulliver the diversions seem as nothing more than ?...country shows, wherein they exceed all nations I have known, both for dexterity and magnificence.? (pg53) Gulliver accepts rope dancing as a valuable accomplishment and even praises the politicians for their agility. Unlike Gulliver, the reader is able to notice the folly of a system that advances politicians for rope-dancing; realizing that the significance of these diversions is far from innocent. The crawlers and jumpers perform for the amusement of the monarch and are rewarded with either blue, red or green threads. In this passage Jonathan Swift is satirizing politicians. Politicians, Swift is saying, are always ready to debase themselves by performing humiliating games, hoping to win the favor of the monarch or obtain ribbons, money, or titles. Similarly, Swift is satirizing the methods by which politicians are chosen in England in the eighteenth century. It is evident that the Lilliputian method of competing for office is comical. However, in eighteenth century England (as well as throughout world history) there have been many political elections which do not deviate in absurdity from rope-dancing. For example, politicians have often been chosen through bribery and trickery. Thus, the satire in Gulliver's Travels is applicable to all time periods. During Gulliver's stay in Lilliput he discovers that there is a war between the nation of Lilliput and Blefuscu. From Reldresal, the Principal Secretary of Private Affairs, Gulliver learns that the conflict started over a religious question: at which end should the faithful break their eggs? at the big end? or at the little end? ?...the primitive way of breaking eggs before we eat them, was upon the larger end: but his present Majesty's grandfather, happened to cut one of his fingers. Whereupon the Emperor his father published an edict, commanding all his subjects, upon great penalties, to break the smaller end of their eggs. The people so highly resent this law, that our histories tell us there have been six rebellions raised on that account: wherein one

Career Essay Essays - Science And Technology, Engineering, Ethics

Career Essay "Normal people don't understand this concept; they believe that if it aint broke dont fix it. Engineers believe if it ain't broke it doesn't have enough features yet." -Scott Adams. My choice career is engineering. After high school I plan on furthering my education in Mechanical Design Engineering. The greatest of the skills I possess is mathematics and the art of creativity, and out of which becomes most of the modern day engineers. Engineers are just artistically innovative problem solvers or lately problem makers - engineering joke. My long-time set goal is to graduate high school with honors, attend and graduate Georgia Tech (or Kennesaw State) with Bachelor's degree, and transfer to Seoul University for my master's and doctoral degrees. I will be majoring in Engineering Mathematics which is pretty rigorous and minoring in mostly culinary arts or photograph as an enjoyable breather. Fun Fact: %83 of mathematics majors prefered culinary arts as a Plan B career choice. To prepare to take on my career, it would be best to start finding things around me that may need improvement to make it better to manage and evaluate "what and how" it can be done. This way of thinking is the nonstop process of engineering minds. Once the mind is trained to be keen in recognizing flaws that can be improved upon, I will be prepared most of the way. Anyone can dream to become an engineer but I need to be a "needed" or "prioritized" engineer. Mechanical engineers produce specifications for, design, develop, manufacture and install new or modified mechanical components or systems. I, to make myself more marketable in my field, will have specialized education to mechanical engineering as well as greatly familiarized myself with other field related to mine that my overlap at a time. This means that I can do more than just one specific job, which in turn saves money because the less man power you have to pay for the more profit received. Not only am i more marketable it also makes me more valuable. The average salary of a mechanical engineer is 84,190$. However, if we combine the extra skill sets and abilities that I bring to the table the average number goes up. I'd be a pretty well payed problem solver, just doing what i like to do. I hope to make everyday functions easier and more effective to rid of our modern frustrations. The stability is in the zill and drive i put into the work that i enjoy to help others and myself. Although this is my absolute dream there are other career choices to choose from as backups such as: technician, technologist, mechatronics engineering, professor, teacher, and/or mentor. These are still in the line of work i aspire to accomplish and are still just as enjoyable. We all know that it's only fair if we work the jobs of our dreams in the place of our dreams. Bearing this in mind, the places i would love to work is in my hometown Shinsadong, Rep. Korea, or in Japan, England, and maybe even back here in Georgia. But wherever I work, I want to work on what i love doing, canceling unnecessary stress that isn't really called for but rather live for the enjoyment and get payed for it. Nothing beats being a good mechanical engineer to me.

ACT Admission Ticket What It Is, How to Print, and What to Do If You Lose It SAT / ACT Prep Online Guides and Tips If you’re planning on taking the ACT, you may know that you’ll need an admission ticket (and photo ID) to get into the testing center. Because ACT, Inc. makes such a big deal about these tickets, figuring out how to get it just right can be one of the most stressful parts of registering for the test. But don’t worry- the process isn’t as complicated as it seems. This guide will walk you through exactly what the ACT admission ticket is, how to get one, and what to do if you lose yours(it’s not as bad you think!). What Is the ACT Admission Ticket? The admission ticket serves as proof that you are registered to take the ACT on a given day. The proctors won’t let you into the testing center without it.Your ACT ticketalso has helpful information about your testing center (for you) and any accommodations you might need (for your proctor). I've included a sample ticket below so you can see what it looks like. I've numbered the different sections of the ACT admissionticket, so that we can go through them one at a time. Photo: Your picture! More info on how to pick and upload one below. Test Info: This section indicates when and where you're testing and which version of the test you're taking. Matching Information: The information that ACT, Inc. will use to match you to your test. Be sure to enter it on your answer sheet exactly as it appears on the ticket. PersonalInfo: Your name and address. Test Center Messages: Information about what to do when you get to the testing center: where to park, how to find your room, etc. At the bottom of the page there is additional information, including your testing number and any accommodations you need. Why Do You Need an Admission Ticket? The ACT admission ticket shows that you are the person actually signed up to take the test- hence why it has a picture. The ticket is a relatively new requirement and is designed to make it harder for people to cheat by having someone else take the test in their place. Remember that you must bring it with you to the testing center or you won’t be allowed to take the ACT. How Do You Get an ACT Admission Ticket? The first step to getting an ACT admission ticket is registering for the test. If you haven’t already done so, youmight want to take a look at our step-by-step instructions, with images, forthe registration process. I would recommend registering online, but most of the following info applies even if you registered by mail, although, in that case, you should receive an admission ticket in the mail. During the registration process there are two main steps you need to complete to get your ACT admission ticket- I'll got through how to complete both of them. How to Upload a Photo Towards the end of the registration process, you’ll be asked to upload a photo. There are a lot of restrictions on what kind of photo you can use, and they can feel somewhat overwhelming. Here are ACT, Inc.’s guidelines: Your photo must be a clear image of ONLY you (not blurry, grainy or fuzzy) against a plain, background. The photo must be a full face-and-shoulders shot, squarely facing the camera. You must use a portrait, not landscape, photo that is correctly oriented. You must be facing the camera. You cannot wear dark glasses. If you wear a head covering daily for religious reasons, adjust it to provide a full-face view. I know that’s a lot, but don’t panic. Let’s break it down into a few key points: The photo should show your entire head and your shoulders- that’s all. You must be easily recognizable- the photo can’t be blurry or dark and you shouldn’t have anything obscuring your face. The photo should have a plain background. If you have a digital version of your school photo, just use that! Another good option is using a webcam to just snap a photo with your computer- as long as you do this in a well lit place, the photo quality will be fine. Otherwise, get a friend or family member to help you take a headshot with a phone or digital camera. Remember that the photo doesn’t need to be awesome, just recognizable- no one but your proctor and your school will see it. If you registered by mail, you will still need to either upload a photo or submit a hard copy. How to Print Your ACT Admission Ticket After completing the registration process and uploading a photo, you'll be asked if you want to print youradmission ticket or wait until later. Either is fine- you can access the ticketanytime through your ACT account. Only have a black and white printer? Don't worry about it. Your ACT ticket printout can be in either color or black and white, as long as the information is clearly visible. But What Should You Do If... ...You Lose Your Ticket? Don’t panic! This problem is easily solved: you can easily reprint your ACT admission ticket.Just go to the ACT website, sign in to your account, and print your ticket! You can use this methodeven if you registered by mail, but if for some reason you can’t print your ticket call ACT, Inc. at 319-337-1270.Keep in mind that calling at the very last minute won't do youmuchgood- if they need to send you a new ticket by mail it will probably take at least a week. ...You Realize that the Information on the Ticket Is Incorrect? Again, this problem is easily fixed. If you realize that your name is misspelled or your address is missing a number, just log into your account and click on "Make changes to your registration." Remember to reprint the ticket once you’ve made your changes, so it’s up-to-date. ...You Get to the Test Center and Don't Have Your Admission Ticket? You cannot take the test without your ticket, so you want to avoid this situation at all costs. The night before the test, gather everything you need for the test together and put it in one easily accessible place. If you’re prone to losing things (or just very paranoid), you can try: making a backup copy and putting it in the car. taping the ticket and your ID to your calculator. If you do end up at the test center with no ticket, you can try having a friend or family member who lives nearby print it out and bring it to you. But the proctors won’t wait, so again, do everything you can to make sure you have it. Key Facts to Remember About the ACT Admission Ticket Let's review some of important points you'll need to keep in mind about the ACT ticket: You must have your admission ticket to get into the test center. Print it out at least the night before, and make multiple copies if you often lose things. Your picture must be recognizable as you and it must have a plain background. You can reprint your ACT admission ticket at any time. Just log into your online ACT account. Peope and organization Assignment Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 500 words - 1

Peope and organization - Assignment Example The team leader did not maintain authoritative behaviors, constantly deferring to the group opinion about direction rather than establishing a set of directions with an aggressive and authoritative position. This was very high accommodating behavior and the group ultimately suffered a low grade due to this lack of aggressiveness and lack of persistent control system development. If the team leader had been low in accommodation, the group would have been more effective in meeting the deadline for completion without the disruption caused by frivolous socialization that occurred as a lack of dominant leadership. The second personality factor for analysis is extraversion/intraversion. In personal life, one family member would always create conflict within the family unit whenever other family members suggested it would be exciting to explore different cultural locations, such as local museums and theaters. Over time, the family began to realize that this family member was highly introverted, an overly serious and reserved individual. The family found out quickly that this introversion was a product of self-esteem problems which were later overcome so that the entire family could enjoy outings together in large social environments. Personally, the personality factor of neuroticism versus emotional stability is applicable. I am always very calm and collected when dealing with stress and really enjoy experiencing new and unpredictable social situations. When others crack under pressure, I always remain resilient and one that others with high neuroticism can rely on for a calming tone of voice. The additional factor for personal analysis is conscientiousness. I believe I fall somewhere in the middle with this factor, tending to maintain a good quality balance. I sometimes procrastinate and, other times, am more driven to achieve goals. At work and school, low neuroticism and having a balanced approach to conscientiousness has given me advantages and disadvantages.

Questions to answer on Management Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 3250 words

Questions to answer on Management - Essay Example The patent right enables an individual to own the idea or invention for substantial period of time so that it can be developed sufficiently into a real invention or business. Patent rights provide protection for the idea or invention from being copied or reproduced by others. Firstly, the idea or invention has to be explained in brief through an application made to the Government Patent Office by an agent or lawyer. This will be reviewed and approved if original and new. Once the first application is approved, a date will be given to the application during which he/she can work on the idea; this date is referred to as the ‘priority date.’ Once approved, a plan for its development must be prepared and produced to the patent office for further approval within 12 months. During this period, the inventor can advertise or publish the idea. After one year, the inventor needs to produce a detailed plan for its development, which is referred to as the ‘Final Specification. ’ If this idea is completely new and does not match with any of the other patents, then it is approved. If it finds any similarities with others, it is rejected. Rejection is accompanied with sufficient explanation. The applicant can also modify it in case it resembles any other idea. If the inventor fails to abide by the confidentiality of the idea or leaks the idea in some way, the patent will be subject to cancellation. Hence, confidentiality is very important during the period when first application is sent for approval. Secondly, if the idea or invention resembles or already exists in the market, then patent rights may be rejected. Patents applied in the United Kingdom are valid only within that country. To obtain patent protection in different countries, separate patents must be filed according to the respective country’s regulations. Obtaining international patents are very expensive. However, the International Convention on Patents provides a common priority da te for all patents during which ideation and development in different countries can be prepared. One common committee governing European patents is the European Patent Office (EPO), which provides patent protection in all European countries at the same time. Hence, patents issued by the EPO are enforceable by individual nations within the European Union and few other countries that come in the purview of EPO. Moreover, the patents issued by the EPO are governed by laws related to various international committees. Patents are divided mainly into 3 categories namely utility patents, design patents, and plant patents depending upon the idea or invention. In the engineering sector, utility and design patents are more common ones. National patents issued within European countries are governed by national legislation and could include aspects related to filing the patents, examination, scope of grants, invalidation, breach and revocation. Patents obtained on methods or ideas related to pr ocedures and certain products are not same in all countries. For instance, patents approved in the United States for certain products or procedures may not be approved in the United Kingdom and other countries. Under an employment agreement, ideally all inventions that are made during the employment and related to the job during working hours and with the use of official resources are owned by the employer. Therefore, if an employee invents something related to his/her job, then the rights to that invention are with the

Health Three Levels Of Promotion Health And Social Care Essay

Health Three Levels Of Promotion Health And Social Care Essay The three levels of health promotion include primary, secondary, and tertiary. All levels are equally important and key in preventing disease and providing starting points for health care providers to offer patients positive, effective change. All levels are important in nursing because nurses are able to take part in almost every step of the promotion. Within the three levels of promotion, there are five steps. These steps include health promotion and specific protection (primary prevention); early diagnosis, prompt treatment, and disability limitation (secondary prevention); and restoration and rehabilitation (tertiary prevention) (Edelman Mandel, pg. 18). Primary prevention includes health promotion and specific protection (Edelman et al, pg. 18). In primary prevention, the main focus is to avoid the development of the disease and to focus on interventions to maintain a healthy life. Its purpose is to [also] decrease the vulnerability of the individual or population to disease or dysfunction (Edelman et al, p. 14). Nurses must do their part in encouraging preventative and appropriate interventions to improve patient health. Primary prevention also involves two further subdivisions that include health promotion and health protection. An example of health promotion would be educating a patient on their health or on nutrition. This type of promotion includes any type of education that would promote a healthy lifestyle. Health protection would be anything that would protect the patient from a disease. For example, health protection can include administering immunizations to reduce exposure the influenza virus this winter. Secondary prevention refers to activities like screening and early diagnosis that aid in treatment of the existing health problem, disease, or harmful situation. Secondary prevention ranges from providing screening activities and treating early stages of disease to limiting disability by averting or delaying the consequences of advanced disease (Edelman et al, p. 18). It is during secondary prevention when early detection occurs in the window of time just before symptoms are apparent, which fosters early treatment and delays onset of more serious symptoms (Murray, R., Zentner, J., Yakimo, p. 42). The difference between primary prevention and secondary prevention is simple. In primary prevention, the focus is more on how to prevent or decrease the probability of the disease or problem before it precedes and allots different suggestions to promote a healthy lifestyle. In secondary prevention however, the preventative methods are more focused on the actually screening and encourages ear ly detection and treatment before a serious disease occurs. Tertiary Tertiary prevention is the last level of promotion that promotes health. Tertiary prevention refers the person to optimum function or maintenance of life skills through long-term treatment and rehabilitation (Murray et al, p. 42). This form of prevention involves treatment, rehabilitation, prompt treatment, and patient education. Usually, tertiary prevention is used when the disability or disease cannot be reversed or is permanent. This level of prevention is easier to look at more as treatment rather than prevention. At this point, the disease has already been established, and the main focus is to minimize the detrimental effects of the disease process and maintain optimal health. It is important that the nurse ensure[s] that persons with disabilities receive services that enable them to live and work according to the resources that are still available to them (Edelman et al, p 19). In primary and secondary prevention, the treatment is geared more towards preventing the actual disea se and early diagnosis and detection. In tertiary treatment, the focus turns toward the reduction of any further complications once the disease process has already progressed. All three levels are equally important to prevent disease, but also have a key impact in health promotion in nursing. Health promotion and purpose for nursing Health promotion is behavior motivated by the persons desire to increase well-being and health potential (Murray et al pg. 42). Individually, patients must find that motivation to ensure and attain optimal health. Nurses, as well as many other health care providers play an important role in motivating and encouraging patients to maintain and strive towards better health. Here is where nurses can use all skills learned to use primary, secondary, and tertiary prevention to encourage healthy lifestyles. Nursing roles and responsibilities The role of the nurse in health care promotion can be demanding, and tiresome, but in the end is simply gratifying. Nurses must take on many different roles to ensure that the patients are promoting and maximizing they health. These roles may include: educator, advocate, provider of care, researcher, care manager, and consultant. By incorporating all these different roles, nurses teach people how to remain healthy. Nurses must have an evidence-based understanding of the significant effect that can be made through health promotion interventions and communicate this understanding to the public at large (Murray et al, pg.42). The goal is for people to become more aware of lifestyle changes that can consequently worsen their health status and make the lifestyle changes to maintain a healthier lifestyle. Nurses can assist in promoting health in many different ways. Nurses are the educators in providing patients and their families with the proper resources to maintain a healthy life. Whether it means teaching on nutrition, immunizations, or diseases, nurses provide most of the teaching. Nurses can also be advocators by making sure the patient is receiving what they are entitled to in the health care system and from their provider. The nurse is to go to person when the provider is not available. Nurses also aid in providing the delivery of care, consulting the patient when any problem exists, and researching and relaying message to the provider when a problem or question exists. For example, in Healthy People 2010, nurses must take on the role in all of these situations to promote a healthier, better lifestyle. Implementation methods for health promotion In order to implement health promotion, nurses are taught to properly find alternative methods that personalize every patient in contact with their delivery of care. Not all forms of health promotion are done by the bedside nurse, but can also be encompassed by the clinic nurse and the community nurses. These levels of promotion can be brought on by the clinic and community nurse by offering different presentations regarding what is directly affecting the specific community. By involving the community in different methods of health care promotion and prevention, the nurse is doing his/her part to assist in primary and secondary promotion. Then, if the assistance is needed, tertiary prevention can be used. The nurse must learn to encompass and become familiar with every aspect of prevention and promotion in order to do his/her part in preventing and promoting healthier lifestyles. In order to facilitate and accommodate to patients needs, evidence based practice is key. There are many articles that can justify and help solidify the need for prevention and promoting in patient lifestyles. Compares the three levels of health promotion prevention First article The article that I found from the Grand Canyon University Library discussing primary prevention is called Opportunities for the Primary Prevention of Obesity during Infancy. This article discusses the opportunities that physicians have to decrease and prevent obesity during infancy. The article proved that through early intervention and prevention, great promise [holds] for interrupting the vicious cycle of obese children becoming obese adults who subsequently have obese offspring themselves (Paul, Bartok, Downs, Stifter, Ventura, and Birch). Evidenced proved that if providers instructed parents on different strategies to promote healthy behaviors, that the infants will have long lasting obesity preventive effects. By using primary prevention, obesity during infancy and possibly throughout the lifetime may be decreased by primary intervention. This article would be beneficial to nursing practice because throughout pregnancy, nurses would be able to show how vital it is to continue to maintain and continue to show healthy eating habits to pregnant mothers and their children to potentially avoid obesity and other health problems for the child. Second article The second article that I found from the Grand Canyon University Library discussing secondary prevention was called Running nurse-led secondary prevention clinics for coronary heart disease in primary care: qualitative study of health professionals perspective. This article was based on a nurse led trial that used secondary prevention to improve coronary heart disease and lower all-cause mortality during a four year follow up. This article emphasized on how this clinic was run by nurses and whether or not it was effective. Studies showed how it was viewed positively by most healthcare professionals that had been involved in running them, but barriers to their implementation had led most to stop running them at some point (Campbell Murcia). It also proved that although it might have been effective, many of variables interrupted in proving the study effective. Issues like lack of space and staff shortages, funding training, and communication arose within the practice and eventually en ded the study. The study still showed how effective the nurses ran the clinic and seemed to be able to do their part in preventing and lowering the occurrence of coronary heart diseases. Third article The third article I found in the Grand Canyon University Library on tertiary prevention is called Applying epidemiologic concepts of primary, secondary, and tertiary prevention to the elimination of racial disparities in asthma. This article emphasized the importance in prevention in asthma. It stated that the primary prevention targets reductions in asthma incidence; secondary prevention is the mitigation of established disease and involves disease detection, management, and control; and tertiary prevention is the reduction of complications caused by severe disease, (Joseph, Williams, Own by, Saltzgaber, and Johnson). This article is good because it is able to illustrate all of the effects of proper primary, secondary, and tertiary prevention. The article showed how by managing, and understanding the disease, changes that could reduce asthma morbidity in US minorities and ultimately mitigate disparities (Joseph, et al). Conclusion This purpose of this paper was to inform the reader of the different levels of health promotion and the role that nurses must play in encouraging this care. Nurses can do their part in promoting a healthier lifestyle for their patients by using alternative methods of prevention. Primary prevention involves health promotion and protection, secondary prevention involves screening and early diagnosis, and tertiary prevention focuses on treating the actual disease and preventing any further complications. It is important for nurses to understand that the role they play on patient health care is vital. Patients rely on nurses to help alleviate and advocate for them when any sort of ailment or sickness occurs. In order for nurses to promote health they must become familiar with the different ways of helping to prevent and promote healthier lifestyles. The articles that were chosen in this article illustrated the different positive effects of prevention and the different ways nurses and hea lth care providers can promote a healthier lifestyle.

Unhappy Cows – Short Essay

The California dairy Industry would like us, the consumers, to believe that their dairy cows In some mysterious way are â€Å"happy cows†. They literally use this term, thus insinuating that for some reason or another, milk from California is better. Or, perhaps they are trying to convince us that cows in other states are too â€Å"sad† to produce quality milk. However, I say this campaign is nothing but a big pile of manure. Pun intended. I have found no research supporting the claim that California cows are â€Å"happy sows†.At least, no happier than normal. In fact, Californians practices are quite the same If not Identical to any other states. It Is very sad that they use a campaign of hope and happiness when in all reality their dairy cows are mistreated just like the rest. Dairy cows endure annual cycles of artificial insemination, mechanized milking for 10 months out of each year, which includes 7 months out of the 9 months a cow may be pregnant. Cows both In California and around the nation are given hormones so hat they might produce more milk. This active and rigorous cycle overburdens the cows, thus only making them useful as dairy cows for two years. These particular cows are usually slaughtered at four years old. Dairy cows are expected to produce one calf per year per cow according to the U. S. Department of Agriculture fact sheet. Just imagine what kind of strain this must be on the animal! This would be comparative to a human running or jogging 6 hours a day, every day for a year while pregnant! Does that sound Like a happy cow to oh?Most female dairy calves are eventually put onto the milking line while most of the male calves are found to be useless and are often sold into the veal industry. Yes folks, even the calves from the â€Å"happy' California cows are sold to these kinds of industries. Hundreds of thousands of little baby calves are shoved into cages so small they can't so much as turn around until they are roughly 12 to 14 months old and then they are slaughtered for their meat; the meat that has gone tender after so many months of little to no activity.California is essentially capitalizing on American citizens ignorance of what is happening right in front of them. If people of this country would bother to read the facts, I doubt they would be supporting this ridiculous â€Å"happy cow' business. Perhaps Californians campaign should be a bit more realistic, such as the way we treat our cows will make your milk curdle'. â€Å"Farm Bill : Laws and Regulations : National Agricultural Library. † Information Centers : National Agricultural Library. Managerial Economic Decision Making Essay

From the e-Activity, assess how business leaders use managerial economics to make business decisions indicating how profits may be impacted. Analyze the principal-agent problem to determine how the relationship could be less adversarial. Provide support for your rationale. ECO 550 Week 1 DQ 2: Fundamental Economic Concepts Pick a recently released good or service. Then, determine the factors that must be evaluated regarding the product’s supply and demand. Analyze how these factors impact the decision to supply the product indicating the significance of each in the decision-making process. Using the same product example above, analyzing how the risk tolerance factors play in supplying the good or service and how this should influence management’s decisions ECO 550 Week 2 DQ 1: Demand Analysis From the e-Activity, if you were a manager in a tobacco company, analyze the elasticity of demand for tobacco products. Evaluate the factors involved in making decisions about pricing tobacco products indicating which would be the most influential. Using the same scenario above, discuss how the elasticity influence the short-term and long-term decisions of the company and the impact to the decision made related to profitability. ECO 550 Week 2 DQ 2: Estimating Demand Provide an example when it would be appropriate to conduct a time-series or cross sectional data. Discuss the potential problems that may arise with your example and identify strategies for minimizing the impact of the potential problems. Discuss the meaning of the regression coefficient of the independent variable(s) and how it could be used to estimate the elasticities of each of these variables. Discuss how managers use the elasticities measurements to make managerial decisions. ECO 550 Week 3 DQ 1: Business and Economic Forecasting From the e-Activity, develop a regression equation using the data you  collected from your research. Use the regression equation to focus the demand for the product you chose for the next three periods. Assess what the results of the regression equation tells managers and how it is likely to impact decisions made related to maximizing profitability. †¢ Imagine you are a manager for the good or service used above. From the results of the regression equation, suggest strategies to either maintain demand (if an increase over three periods occurs) or improve demand (if a decrease over three periods occurs). Provide support for your recommendations ECO 550 Week 3 DQ 2: Managing in the Global Economy Evaluate the relationship between the European Euro crisis in 2012 and the American economy. Assess how this affects American businesses and decisions made by mangers related to sustainable profitability. Provide examples with your response. Aside from maximizing profits, assess the factors that managers must consider when making the decision to outsource or integrate forwards or backwards considering which factor would be most influential for decision-making. ECO 550 Week 4 DQ 1: Production Economics From the e-Activity, determine the environmental variable most likely to affect the short-run production over the next 12 months. Determine what managers can do to prepare for the possible change in short-run production. Pick a real or fictitious business. Create a scenario around this business in which a manager would decide to either stop operations in the short-run or going out of business in the long-run. Provide a rationale with your response ECO 550 Week 4 DQ 2: Cost Analysis Pick a good or service. Distinguish between the short-run and the long-run production and cost function for that good or service. Discuss how price plays a role in short-run and the long-run decisions and how managers are likely to respond in each case. Using the same good or service from above. Identify the fixed and variables costs are for the good or service. Based upon the costs identified, recommend whether to produce or not produce the good or service. Provide a rationale with your response ECO 550 Week 5 DQ 1: Applications of Cost Theory Imagine you are a manager of a chemical company. An accident has occurred in which chemicals leaked into the ground water nearby, the community is unaware. Assess the costs involved in cleaning up the water immediately (confessing) versus hiding the fact and possibly paying more in the future. Discuss the impact on profitability in both situations. From the first e-Activity, assess the factors involved in conducting a break-even analysis. Determine the conditions that may exist for a manager of this good or service may decide to move forward with operations even with the initial costs of operations is more than the potential revenue ECO 550 Week 5 DQ 2: Prices, Output and Strategy Pick a good or service you are familiar. Speculate how the price for that good or service may have been set and how well this price maximizes profit for the company and determine what shifts the company should made in its pricing strategy. Provide support for your recommendations. From the second e-Activity, discuss how the company you selected should increase its competitive stance in the marketplace and how management would implement the recommendations. Provide specific examples to support your response ECO 550 Week 6 DQ 1: Monopolies From the first e-Activity, imagine this company acting as a monopoly was to have a new competitor arrive in the marketplace. Assess how the monopoly would likely change its pricing strategy to compensate for the new competition. From the first e-Activity, speculate how the monopolist could be more efficient in the long-run considering new competition has entered the marketplace ECO 550 Week 6 DQ 2: Oligopoly From the second e-Activity, assess the marketing and pricing strategies, for example rebates, to determine the goal(s) of the marketing and pricing strategies for one of the companies you researched. Make one recommendation for changes that the company should make to better maximize profits. The Internet has made shopping for airline tickets efficient for the consumer. As a result, the industry overall is price sensitive. Suggest how the airlines can maximize profits while avoiding price wars. ECO 550 Week 7 DQ 1: Game Theory Please respond to the following: †¢ Demand for airline tickets fluctuates throughout the year, which affects the price of an airline ticket. Suggest the type of game that may be most appropriate for a specific airline to play to address the differences in demand and elasticity and the resulting impact on profitability. Provide support for your reply. †¢ From the first e-Activity, propose a short-term and long-term pricing strategy for the product or service you researched including how the strategies would be implemented. Assess how your proposal ultimately maximizes profits ECO 550 Week 7 DQ 2: Pricing Techniques From the second e-Activity, propose the new target market segment for the product and its accompanying pricing strategy (for example, bundling and couponing). Provide a rational for why you feel the new target market and pricing strategy would be successful and the likely impact to the profitability of the firm. The pharmaceutical industry often has the luxury of implementing pricing strategies that appear high to consumers. Take a position on the fairness of the industry’s approach to pricing pharmaceutical products including offering an alternative strategy that may be more palatable to consumers. Provide a rationale with your position ECO 550 Week 8 DQ 1: Contracting From the e-Activity, propose a methodology for assessing the risk in business contracts. Assess the economic impact this methodology may have for the organization. Analyze a situation in which both parties entering into a contract could benefit, economically or otherwise, from slightly ambiguous language contained in the contract. Provide specific examples to support your response. ECO 550 Week 8 DQ 2: Organization Form Analyze the potential downfalls of any team effort and make at least one recommendation for minimizing risk. Provide specific examples to support your response. Evaluate the organization form that would be most efficient in minimizing the principal-agent problem. Provide a rationale with your response ECO 550 Week 9 DQ 1: Government Regulation From the e-Activity, take a position on whether more government regulation is needed in the banking industry. Support your position with evidence or examples. Provide an example of how government regulation is either constraining or enabling for a particular company indicating the impact to the operational efficiency of the company. Discuss how your response impacts maximizing shareholder wealth ECO 550 Week 9 DQ 2: Antitrust and Licensing Imagine how managerial decisions may be easier or more difficult if there were no antitrust restrictions in the U.S. Provide an example to support your response. The IT industry is full of patents. There are some companies, referred to as patent trolls, whom purchase these patents in hopes of making money by enforcing patents against alleged infringers. Determine the impact of government regulation against patent trolls. Identify who wins and who loses if regulation was adopted ECO 550 Week 10 DQ 1: Capital Investments With the current U.S. economy in a weakened state, many companies are reluctant to implement any capital improvements or capital expenditures in fear of the economic uncertainty that exists that may negatively impact the cash flow of the organization. Assess the impact of this behavior on productivity, cost efficiency, diversification of assets, or impact to future cash flows that may emerge if companies continue this mindset indicating the long-term risk to profitability. Provide an example or scenario to support your response. Analyze the challenges that companies face in entering global markets. Identify the potential impact to capital budgets in making the decision to move into a global market ECO 550 Week 10 DQ 2: Cost-Benefit Analysis Provide a cost-benefit analysis for a company which has to decide whether to hire more staff or hire temporary workers to meet production schedules. Essay about Prince Sports Case Analysis

Essay about Prince Sports Case Analysis Essay about Prince Sports Case Analysis Ashley Blyth Prince Sports Case Analysis Marketing Principles Prince Sports is a sports equipment retailer that offers many different products for tennis, squash, badminton, and racquetball, and paddle tennis. It’s complete line of tennis products include more than 150 racquet models, more than 50 tennis strings, over 50 footwear models, and countless types of bags, apparel, and other accessories. Inventing the first oversize, long-body racquets, the first synthetic gut tennis string, and the first natural foot shape tennis shoe is something that Prince prides itself on in the history of innovation in tennis. In the 21st century environmental forces worked for and against Prince in many different ways. Social forces work for Prince due to people being health conscious which results in people participating in physical activities, such as tennis. Income and occupation plays a role here because tennis is known as a â€Å"rich† people sport. Technological forces help prince in a few different ways. Increase of technology will make it easier to research and produce many different products. Having availability to not only research different ideas for new products but to actually be able to produce them depending on what the consumers’ needs are will be much easier as technology advances. Also technology provided more outlets for marketing. This can work against Prince as well. Having an available online market gives opportunity for consumers to leave feedback and reviews. One way this could work against Prince is if there are any dis-satisfied customers they are able to leave rev iews and feedback for possible new consumers to see, resulting in the loss of business. Many new consumers do review searches before purchasing a product or service on the web. Economic forces are based on the economy. If the economy is good it will work in favor for Prince. If consumers feel comfortable in the purchase of a new product that will only result in more purchases, and more word of mouth marketing. However, if the economy is bad this will make it less likely for consumers to purchase any tennis equipment. They will probably make do with what they currently have. The growth of tennis related products depends heavily on the growth of the tennis industry as a whole. There are different marketing activities that the United States can do to promote tennis playing. Every consumer loves to see the word free. Giving away free tennis lessons will spark the interest of a consumer. Once a person plays tennis for the first time there is a greater chance they will return to play again. There is also the idea to use internet based websites to sell the sport at a discounted rate. An example of an internet based site that sells goods and services at a discounted rate is Groupon. Here Prince could offer either free or promotional prices for lessons, day trips, games, or group packages. When people use discounted tennis games word of mouth will eventually spread and more people will talk about tennis resulting in more people joining the sport. Media advertising is a great way to target a specific market. Running an advertisement of all the pros of playing ten nis such as a great form of exercise, to achieve and maintain good health. If targeting people who are attracted to good health and maintaining it an idea would be to run an advertisement in a health magazine, this would target a specific consumer. There are many different promotional activates that Prince can use to reach recreational players and junior players as well. Sale promotions such as free lessons with the purchase of a product are ideas for promotions. Offering free lesson services to get consumers interested is a great idea. Since recreational players may be playing tennis for the simple fact of good exercise. Because of this they might be found in gyms, or spas. Hanging advertisements in these locations would be used a luring tool for a target group. Junior players can be attracted through

Free Essays on Mount Vernon

The United States of America is the land of the free, but was this true for everyone in the early part of our country’s history. Being born into a world in which slavery was accepted, George Washington owned slaves at the early age of eleven. Inheriting his father’s land, George and Martha Custis became married and settled at Mount Vernon. Although Washington would purchase many more slaves to work on his estate, his attitude changed as he grew older. During the Revolution, as he and fellow patriots strove for liberty, Washington became increasingly conscious of the contradiction between this struggle and the system of slavery. In this paper I will discuss the life of Washington’s family and his slaves at Mount Vernon. During the 17th and 18th centuries, chattel slavery was a common aspect of American society; so common in fact, that at least seven of our first ten presidents, including George Washington, owned slaves (Randall 23). These slaves were considered property with the same legal standing as a horse or wagon. Slaves could not legally own property or get married and could be bought, sold, or rented. They were given as gifts, bequeathed to friends and relatives in wills, and even offered as lottery prizes. The colonial plantation system in early America was dependent upon the availability of abundant labor and George Washington’s Mount Vernon estate was no exception. George Washington was born into this society, inheriting slaves from his father at the age of eleven. When he and Martha Custis married in 1759, their combined slave-community numbered about fifty. By 1772, just two years before the Revolutionary War, Washington had purchased an additional fifty slaves. It was during this War for Independence that his views on slavery began to change, eventually leading to his resolve never to buy or sell another human being. Gift of Fear, Just 2 Seconds, and On Combat Essay

Gift of Fear, Just 2 Seconds, and On Combat - Essay Example The book incorporates a couple of ideas. It provides tactics that seek to help readers, especially women, to avoid violence and trauma by educating them on a variety of warning signs as well as precursors to hostility. The novel presents a paradox of genre. Becker seeks to emphasize the inherent predictability of brutality by setting patterns of abuse and violence in his book. The book looks at various settings where violent behavior may occur. These places are the workplace, school, home, and dating venues (Becker 1). Just 2 Seconds, on the other hand, incorporates four critical lessons for protectors. These four ideas are categorized as how to evade attacks, how to evade close attacks, how to evade incidents that imperil other persons, and additional resources that could keep protectors from violent behaviors. The book is based on more than 1,400 violent attacks, especially assassinations of many world prominent people. Hence, the author’s aim is to try to ease these cases and create awareness of how people could avoid them (Becker 1). Finally, On Combat explores, thoroughly, what happens mentally and physically to most people when they meet a deadly threat. The book speaks of coping with the diverse aspects of combat, although from the perception of how people cope with combat. The main ideas of the book comprise the physiology of combat, perceptual distortions that take place during a fatal force encounter, metal attitudes as well as the aftermaths of combats (Becker 1). According to The Gift of Fear, the most powerful tool of preventing violence is through focusing on the verbal as well as non-verbal clues a person gives off. This could predict whether or not the individual or circumstances will lead to violence. The author demonstrates that people who keep to themselves are clearly boiling time bombs waiting to blow up. If SSAs could keep this in mind, then it would help them avoid future violent cases (Becker 1). Just 2 Seconds, on the other

Consumer Packaged Goods Industry Essay Example for Free

Consumer Packaged Goods Industry Essay Wonderware relies on their services and expertise to take it into new opportunities and markets. From the 625 VAR/OEMs, approximately 2. 5% use Wonderware software to create solutions for food-products machinery in the Consumer Packaged Goods (CPG) industry. Out of almost exactly 3,000 SI companies currently active in the Wonderware Solution Provider Program, more than 46% devote some portion of their practice to serving customers in the CPG industry. 63 % of Wonderware Certified SIs and 82% of Wonderware’s ArchestrA Certified SIs are involved in the CPG industry. But just what do we mean when we talk about the CPG industry? The free reference section at Hoover’s online (www. hoovers. com/free/ind/dir. xhtml) includes a useful directory of industries and the following general definition: Consumer Products Manufacturers Companies that design, manufacture and/or market apparel, cleaning products, hand and power tools, home furniture, housewares, linens, and consumer electronics and appliances. However, things may not really be that simple. It’s actually more meaningful to describe the CPG industry as a set of consumer behaviors rather than trying to draw boundaries around a specific list of product names or brands. And the key behavior that best describes the CPG market is that of replenishment on some regular or frequent basis. The items are in fact consumed, in some sense or another, fairly rapidly. This means that they do have a shelf life – whether it’s the perishable nature of a snack food item or the fleeting glamour of a cell phone with features like text or pictures or videos. And of course that can mean that the value of an entire warehouse inventory, for a whole generation of product can go to zero in a hurry! Those behaviors tend to result in a steady flow of small recurring expenses (for a tube of toothpaste, a pack of beverages or even the latest personal electronic gadget) rather than large infrequent ones like the acquisition of a major capital asset for manufacturing. The problem for our manufacturing customers is that those small replenishable items still require the major manufacturing assets to produce them. The ability to rapidly reconfigure and re-task those expensive production machines and factories when customer whims change – in other words, agile manufacturing – can make the difference between profitability and receivership. The Consumer Packaged Goods (CPG) Industry and Solution Providers Page 3 2. Industry Comparisons The financial research tools at www. etrade. com (account membership required) offer some useful comparisons between the consumer goods industry and other major industry sectors. It’s not necessarily the fastest-growing business ector – compared to general technology, financial or energy companies – but certainly respectable when it comes to overall sector profit margins. The non-cyclical sub-category of the CPG industry, in fact, ranks well above the Transportation, Basic Materials, and Capital Goods and Services industries. The consumer cyclical category includes apparel, recreational products, personal electronics, automobiles and replacement parts such as tires. The non-cyclical category includes beverages, tobacco, personal products, office supplies and food items. The Industry Browser information tools at the Yahoo! Finance Industry Center (biz. yahoo. com/p/3conameu. html) may surprise you in terms of the relative sizes and profitability of some segments in the Consumer Goods categories. For instance, the top five segments by market capitalization are as follows: The Consumer Packaged Goods (CPG) Industry and Solution Providers Page 4 Segment Auto manufacturers Food – major diversified Cigarettes Beverages – soft drinks Cleaning products Market Capitalization ($B) 296 281 269 266 205 The largest segments are not necessarily the most profitable, however. The top five segments by overall profit margin are: Segment Cigarettes Cleaning products Beverages – brewers Beverages – soft drinks Confectioners Net Profit Margin (%) 17 13 12 11 10 Somewhat surprisingly, the largest segment by market capitalization – Auto Manufacturers – is one of the least profitable at just 1. 8%. The sizable and highly visible – but keenly competitive – Electronic Equipment category is squeezed down to just 2. 5% overall net margin. 3. What CPG Companies Need from Solution Providers For our Consumer Packaged Goods customers to succeed, they must deal with a number of internal and external pressures and demands. Those internal drivers include: Protecting or increasing profits Reducing costs related to: o Supply-chain management – Net asset turns on raw materials and finished goods inventories, efficient sourcing decisions and reducing scrap or return rates o Manufacturing – Improving operational efficiency and employee productivity o Information technology – Cost containment and outsourcing, standardization and consolidation of server assets, increasing reusability, and an application infrastructure that protects and maximizes key databases and information assets Mergers, acquisitions, breakups and spin-offs The Consumer Packaged Goods (CPG) Industry and Solution Providers Page 5 o o Integration (or disconnection! ) of supply-chain linkages Operational complexity and startup costs – dealing with dissimilar bestpractice philosophies, variations in processes, applications and technology, and training to improve and align vital human resources. External forces and demands that our CPG customers face include: Meeting changing customer needs and requirements Preserving brand integrity – through product quality and safety as well as regulatory requirements Speed to market with more (and often complicated) new products. Now, with all those pressures facing our Consumer Packaged Goods manufacturing customers, what can we – a world-class community of solution providers and a world-class software supplier – provide to help them face such challenges? First of all, we can provide a platform for growth – an eco-vision – that can grow and evolve as the fickle customer marketplace changes and the companies adapt. We can offer an architecture built around re-usable components – not just software objects, but encapsulated best practices and intellectual capital. That means lower project-to-project costs and a common service architecture from production to process. We can deliver an architecture for incremental investment, avoiding the â€Å"big bang† approach that held back the promise of advanced manufacturing execution systems (MES) for so long, for example.
